  Frequently Asked Questions
How the 20 Minute Slow-Intensity Program Works

How Slow Do I go

Each repetition takes 10 seconds to lift the weight and another 10 seconds to lower the weight until it is absolutely impossible to move the weight any longer. After 1-3 minutes of performing the exercise, the trainer encourages you to sustain the weight for an additional 10 seconds. The deliberate slow movement of the weight keeps the muscle contracted throughout the entire exercise.

What is muscle fatigue

Muscle fatigue is when the muscle becomes thoroughly exhausted and is incapable of completing another full repetition. This is the most beneficial part of the exercise! Slow-Intensity™ is unique because it requires both fast-twitch and slow-twitch muscle fibers to work hard throughout the range of motion providing the best possible results.

How often do I need to train

1-2 sessions per week for 20-30 minutes is the amount of time we typically recommend to our clients. The Slow-Intensity™ Workout completely exhausts the body making it counterproductive to perform it more than twice a week. Each exercise is so efficient, the body needs at least 48 hours to recover and rebuild.

Is it safe

YES! Improper form, too much weight and excessive momentum are the main causes of weight training injuries. Our Nautilus Nitro Plus equipment isolates the muscle and positions the body in proper alignment for complete stabilization. Our trained certified professionals instruct every aspect of each repetition for optimum safety.

Can I lose weight and body fat

YES! Creating lean muscle mass allows the body to burn calories 24/7. Slow-Intensity™ will help you build lean muscle, increase your metabolism and challenge your cardiorespiratory system. With correct eating habits and weekly visits to BodyQuest, you will see the best possible results. And ladies -you WILL NOT bulk up. Lean muscle is more compact than fat. It actually takes up LESS space making your body firmer and trimmer.

Do I gain aerobic benefits

YES! This specific type of strength training provides you with aerobic benefits, but is much easier and safer on your joints. Traditional aerobics may burn a small amount of calories during the exercise, but once you've stopped, so has your body's ability to burn any additional calories. Slow-Intensity™ helps build lean muscle, elevate your metabolism and burn more calories, even at rest. You are no longer obligated to perform high impact aerobic exercises in order to lose weight!

Is it beneficial for beginners and advanced levels

YES! Every level and any age can benefit tremendously from this program.
